Looking for mountable USB port
« on: October 11, 2010, 10:54:15 pm »
I'm looking for a USB port that I can surface mount on a panel and plug into an internal USB hub.
I'm looking for a single port, but won't discount a dual port.

Pictures / links would be greatly appreciated.

I used these on the side of my cabinet for my light guns.  They are definitively worth it.  Look great too.

Wish I'd seen this back when I was looking....

The technique I used was to buy a cheap USB extension cable, cut a hole that matched it's size and just epoxy it into place. Works great, doesn't look too bad, and it is cheaper (though not by much)

These are what I'm recommending in the second edition of Project Arcade. Arcadeshop.de carries these as well. The A/B is reversible so you can have whichever connector you want facing out. An A/B cable to your computer's USB port and you have a nicely mounted A connector sitting in the front of your panel or wherever you mount it.

I have the neutrik connectors as well.  The best thing about it is you only need to drill a single hole for a perfectly clean mount.  Most other solutions require you to route out a square shaped hole.
