Aimtrak button question
« on: October 11, 2010, 12:47:42 am »
Hey guys, just got my Aimtraks all set up, and I had a couple questions.  First, is there, or will there ever be middle mouse button support?  For me this would be perfect.  See, I need a 3 button setup on my gun, and when I add that third button, it installs a new joystick which messes everything up on my configuration.  What I would like to see is left mouse, right mouse, middle mouse, and no install of a virtual joystick.

Second, has anyone noticed problems with the version 1.5 firmware?  When I have two guns plugged in as device 1&2, then restart my computer, I get device not recognised.  I just get the windows sound like I am unplugging them and plugging them back in over and over.  If I unplug the devices and plug them back in all is good until the next reboot.  I went back to 1.3 firmware and it seems to work correctly again.  I also noticed on the 1.5 firmware that even if you do not map the "joystick" buttons, it still installs them.  1.3 doesnt install them untill you map them.

Anyway, I just thought I would see if anyone else has seen these issues, or if it is just me.  Thanks!

update:  Last night I went ahead and "unmapped" the joystick buttons hoping that the joysticks would be gone, but they are still there.  Anyone know how to uninstall these joysticks?  I can see them in the control panel under game controllers. And also, games that use Joystick #1 and #2 revert to the Aimtrak joysticks.  Thanks

Ok, I got around both these issues.  I had Andy send me 1.3 to get around the reboot issue, but as you said the device was still recognized as a game controller, which screws up all my other controller mappings.

To get rid of it, go into device manager.  Select "Human Interface Devices" and DISABLE (don't uninstall) the HDI-compliant game controller associated with your Aimtrak.  Be careful, if your setup is like mine you'll have about 6 of these to choose from.  Find the aimtrak by looking at the device IDs and seeing which one goes away when you unplug it.

Now if I could only get Singe and MAME to reload with the same button.

I found a way to disable these devices(or any other) by using command line.  So I am able to disable my aimtraks ONLY when a game launches that needs "VJOY".  Then after that game closes, they are re-enabled.  The program is called Devcon and it is made by microsoft.  It works GREAT!
BTW, after going back to version 1.3 most of my problems are fixed :)
