Need help planning a cocktail CP layout
« on: October 10, 2010, 12:09:01 pm »
Hi, I'm building a cocktail machine that closely resembles a pacman machine. I will use the machine to play vertical and horizontal games, using mame "cocktail" output for the latter. The CPs are 11" wide and I planned 6 buttons for each player for some of the horizontal games, the basic layout I planned so far is in the picture. For what I've tested, it looks comfortable, but my problem is that I have to add to that: 1 UP button and exit button (2 UP button on player 2 panel). These extra buttons are smaller, 1".

So far I thought about putting the exit button on the small place on the upper right corner and the 1 UP button next to it, or on the upper side between the joystick and the buttons.

Another option is to put the buttons on lower part of the panel (which doesn't exist in this prototype), but it doesn't convince me. (the back of the panel is not usable since it will be transparent white plexiglass)

I cannot think of many more options, but thats why I'm asking for help!, please feel free to suggest anything even if it doesn't keep the basic layout I proposed.

Thanks
