How to choose the right CRT TV?
« on: September 27, 2010, 05:24:30 pm »
Im on the hunt for a suitable CRT TV for my next project, and so far I have drawn blanks.

I want a TV that will auto switch on and select the correct SCART channel after a cold boot, so far I have found:

soft power buttons that need to be pressed after a cold boot

latch switched power buttons, that powerup into standby

latch switched that turn on, but dont autoselect scart input!

I cant seem to find one thats suitable for me, any tips or workarounds for this?

Its becoming a PITA as I have to find one for sale, travel to the sellers house, pull out my PS2 with gradius V in there - to test for 60hz, then pull the plug on the TV and plug it back in! Starting to feel like some kind of CRT pervert ;)

Using an IR Blaster you could set your MAME PC to send the 'Power On' IR code out of the IR Blaster right into the TV's IR port.  So once the PC get to windows and runs it's list of programs in autorun you can get it to send the 'on' command to the TV.
