I planning my cooling options for my pinball cab and had the crazy idea of using a small fan from a car engine.
Maybe the radiator fan or maybe a small one from an intercooler or something.
Just thought it would be a cheap way to get a large fan in there. I know they would need 12v but do you think one could run off an AC adapter?

Yes but wouldn't it be better to just strip some off some old PC's than buy a new thing for a car or some tatty rip-out from a dirty engine?

well I was thinking of at least an 8-10" fan - couple of bucks from a junk yard maybe

While im on the subject, ive seen some pinball cans with fans underneath blowing IN to the cab and ones at the back blowing out.
Do you really need the ones blowing in? Whats the theory here? Airflow instead of just air evacuation?

Airflow has its advantages.  You can have it blow by rows of hot incandescent bulbs...

anyway, This is for a VP cabinet and the area in the main section under the 37" LCD TV is the one of concern.
The PC would be in there too so theres probably a decent amount of heat to expell

With a pc inside,  I would definitely have fans blowing in and out to help get rid of that heat.  Modern pc's can toss out a crapload of heat.
