Most of that seems about right. Except the few inner city arcades I used to visit didn't have a geek at the controls, it was some ruffian and his mates waiting to mug you.

Sounds familiar, One thing that I saw a lot of was at least one undesirable crowding you as you played, a little bit too close for when you are concentrating then pointing at the screen giving instructions, after the game ends he would then tap you up for 10p for 'helping' you ;)

That rings a few bells. I was fortunate enough to have a 6ft something brick outhouse geek mate to hang around with so we were mostly ok :D

I've never heard of My Extra Life before this, so as is my custom, I started reading it from the beginning.

Maybe it's too early to judge, but it feels like the "Cathy" of videogame webcomics... take that how you will.  (Do folks in the UK read "Cathy?")
