Have fun moving that SOB! Bring at least 2 strong friends and have a trailer with ramp or truck with liftgate.

Step 1 should be add wheels to cab.  Wheels are so convenient on heavy cabs!

Excellent pickup.  Looks like a great cab to turn into a 4 player cab.

It already has wheels under the monitor section. Lower the leg levelers to use the wheels. Unbolt and move the control panel pedestal with a hand truck.

The monitor section should come apart too.  Having it apart in three sections helps make it much easier to move. Promise your buddies beers and dibs on the first games then direct them to be careful moving it as you supervise.

Nice purchase.

Yeah was not a bad pick up for $200.  And yeah the monitor part has wheels.  And the control box does detach.   So that will definitely help.  Any idea how the monitor would come apart?  The seller didn't mention that it did.

Any ideas how I should get this home though?  I will have a trailer.  The seller said he and a single friend were able to get it onto a trailer with just the two of them.  So I am hoping he and I can do it, but I will be trying to find a friend to come with if I can anyway.   About when it on the trailer though, should it be kept standing up?  Or can I lay it down?  Just strap it in good and use blankets to cushion the sides and that's it?  Or any other tips?

Stand it up. The bolts that hold the monitor box on top of the rest of the base cant support the weight when the cabinet is on its back.  When you strap it down, place the straps below the monitor, and at least one going over the top of the monitor section. Don't make fast turns while transporting a showcase cab...I've lost one on the road before  :embarassed:

:) Wish I could get my avatar pic thing to be animated.   That's what I intended it to look like when I uploaded it.

i recently transported a similar showcase cabinet, i laid it down and put it in my wife's minivan, however it did not have a monitor in it.  (i had to put the control panel portion in my friends jeep commander because it wouldn't fit in the van with the other part.)

the cabinet itself is heavy, but very manageable with two people. from looking around the net, most 32" CRTs weigh in around 150-200lbs, which makes the unit alot more difficult to move around.  I'd make sure you take some security torx bits with you when you go to pick itup.  alot of cabinets use these type of screws, you want to make sure you can disassemble it when you get there.  on mine, i had to take 4 of them out of the one side of the cabinet to remove the plexi covering the monitor, then there were 4 bolts holding the monitor into the cabinet.  the monitor in mine was dead, so i pulled it out before taking the cabinet home...it was quite heavy.

this looks like a great cabinet for a 4 player setup.  that is what i am doing with mine.  your's looks to be in a little better shape than mine, but then again, i got mine for free, so I'm not complaining.

good luck with your project, be sure to take lots of pictures

Thanks for the tips!  So do you think it's recommended to take out the monitor during the travel home?  I have to drive about 2 hours to get back, so it's a ways but not too far.  I don't want to take out the monitor if I don't have to.

Leave the monitor in. Just transport it upright and secure it properly. It's difficult to remove the monitor and you risk damaging the monitor if you remove it.

Thanks for all the tips guys.  I transported it home this weekend.  There was 25 mph winds, and we had a few rain sprinkles on the ride home  :badmood:  BUT, it made it home safe and sound!    I think ratchet straps are the greatest invention ever.  Normal old ropes just dont have the same effect.   I am sure I will have plenty of posts some time in the future on how to get it all to work now, as I don't have any experience hooking up regular arcade monitors to PC's, or with how to get the speakers to work with a PC too!   But I will cross that bridge when I get to it!
