Sealing MDF cut edges
« on: September 22, 2010, 11:25:10 am »
Woodworkers, I ask for a hand.

When I've cut my MDF for past projects, I'm always left with a pretty unsightly roughness when priming and painting, and am looking for "the word" on how to fix this before I start on my cabinet.  I won't be using t-moulding, and have done a bit of research, but have a couple of options I've read up on and wanted your opinions.

I've read that a solution of 3 parts wood glue to 1 part water, applied with a foam brush, let to dry and then sanded will solve the problem of the rough looking edges.  I've also read that you could apply a veneer strip to the edge, much like you would to finish a melamine sheet.

What have you done to solve this issue?  Is there a better way?
