acrylic thickness for a CP top
« on: September 10, 2010, 05:38:21 pm »
I was going to use some .220" thick acrylic for hte top of my CP.  Nice and heavy so it will not flex.

As it turns out I think I might need to do something thinner.  has anyone used the .097" thick acryllic on their CP?  And held it down with jsut hte buttons?  If so, do the edges that are not near the buttons stay flush with the edge (assuming t-molding is on the edge)?

i'm not sure what the exact thickness of the plexiglass i used on my panel, it was just under 1/8" thick, on top of my 5/8" MDF.  it is held down with nothing but the buttons.  the Tmolding covers the edges of the plexi and it stays in place very well.  if you are going to have the plexi sit above the tmolding, then you may need screws/bolts to hold it down at the edges

Mine's also 1/8 thick on a 5/8 panel. Also held with buttons. Thin artwork that floats can ripple a little. Mine did until I replaced it with art on .050 poly. Rigid and nay unripplable.

Sounds like the thinner stuff will work.  I'll be buying the new stuff soon.
