Another new MAME cabinet - Need advice on parts
« on: September 05, 2010, 11:06:18 am »
I'm setting up another cabinet in the next couple weeks.  I'm looking for eye-candy, quality and more..

The setup will be a two player control panel, with the following:

-Trackball (3" w/light)

-Spinner

-Joysticks should be 4 & 8 way switchable or at least player 1's stick & ability to have top lit up too.

-6 or 7 buttons per player (w/ability to be lit up)

-Standard admin buttons (pause, exit, etc)

I would like to be able to light up all buttons if possible and change their colors if needed, but dont really need to have the 1 million color possibilities or have it go through cycles of flashing, etc..

I'm checking the following sites for parts:

Ultimarc

GrooveyGameGear

Anyone else recommend anything or place to get items?

Ultimarc has a really sweet trackball, that mounts virtually invisible, but the ball itself.   :applaud:
Ultimarc has a "minipac" interface, that is a 1-stop shop for controller cards.. (takes, joysticks, buttons, trackball and spinner).  :notworthy:

Groovey really has some interesting items as well, but noticed some of his stuff is sold out, or has the "coming soon" banner...which has been there for a good 2 weeks now.

Thanks for feedback... I really want this build to be the shizzz.  It will be in a Gauntlet Legends arcade cabinet, that was gutted be previous owner.  It's in almost flawless condition too.    :applaud:
Greetings From The Lord Humongous!

happcontrols have a lot of good stuff too.  Especially in their "pc arcade" section.

I have U360s from ultimarc and couldn't be happier.  That said my buttons, coin door, (pretty much everything else on my cab) came from happcontrols.

If you want Happ products order through arcadeemulator.net, if his site doesn't have what you want, send divemaster127 a message through these forums.  He carries Happ products at roughly the same price, but you'll save tons in shipping costs ordering through him since Happ likes to rape people on shipping costs.

Also, if you live in the USA then divemaster127 is also an Ultimarc dealer and can get the whole Ultimarc product line.  Since he's in the USA then shipping tends to be a little faster and cheaper as well.  Although, ordering through Ultimarc them being based in the UK, shipping is still pretty dam quick.
