Displaying Controls In Maximus
« on: September 01, 2010, 03:01:21 am »
Is there a way i can display the controls of the game when loading from maximus?
So for instance, i select a game in mame, then the screen goes blank (like it does) then it shows the buttons to use, then it loads the game?

Also i noticed there is a display controls option in maximus preferences but not sure what that does?

Ive heard of a program called CPViewer - will this do it?

If it is possible then will i have to program it for every game or is there some sort of list available already?
Im using latest Maximus and 0.139 mame.
Obviously for games for the consoles then the controls would be mostly the same for each game but mame would be different.

Just from checking the link, it looks like that program would be what you're looking for.  Now, I shall sit back and wait for someone more experienced to come by and either give it their seal of approval, or point us in a different direction entirely.

you'll have to experiment with autohotkey, I know a script that can do this for hyperspin, but it would not work for maximus.  Maximus launches mame via commandline, so I wonder if there would be any ways to have an autohotkey script  show the controller for a bit before launching the game. You might want to contact chillinwater (a member on these forums and on the hyperspin forums) and ask him for advice.

nice, is that difficult to setup? It looks pretty nice.. similar to cpwizard.  There must be a way to hvae cpwizard display right before launching the game if you used autohotkey.

No one usually remembers that anyway at the beginning.  During gameplay if you forget, simply pause it and it will display.  :)
