Mala UltraStik Mapper PLug-in control type question

I'm building a new cocktail cabinet with Mala and U360's.  I installed fatfingers mapper plug-in but I can't get it to "see" the control type so it always loads the default ugc.  Here's the umapper.log info, any help would be appreciated! ...

Wow, I was having hte same problem.  I was just playing with my u360s yesterday so the timing is impecable.

Do you know what version you were using?

I'll be grabbing Mala 1.71 (latest) when I get home.

How do I migrate from an old version of Mala to a new one?  I don't want to loose my current configuration.

Any advice on how you are testing the configuration?  I am trying to use an analog stick based game (Paperboy) in order to see if the game works as desired.  Right now it does not.

EDIT: Oh wow, I had 1.0.5.8.  Ya, I think I know what my problem was.

I'm using 1.70.  I'm having the problem again.  I have no idea why MaLa & the U360 plug-in have the problem some (most) of the time.  Does anybody have any idea what might be causing the problem or what I can look at to figure it out?

To see whether it is working, I click the debug option for the plug-in and then after running the game I look in the MaLa directory for umapper.log.  It shows what .ugc is used when the game is launched.

I could be wrong but I think your mame version 097 is out of date for current Mala.   :dunno   As Mame will help you with xml info and mapping with later version if the plugin fails to load a certain map. As you probably know the map has to be named exactly as the rom for the game. I'm still using a earlier ver of Mala so I can't test your problem.

I went through the "pain" of upgrading to .139u2 and I still have the problem that the plug in doesn't get the controller type passed into it.  I guess I'm at the point of manually creating a UGC file for each of the games I want to use the U360's with. 

Does the mame auto analog to digital controller conversion work pretty well, ie. should I just go with that instead of manually creating the UGC's?

Another option would be LEDBlinky - it can set the u360 maps even if you don't have any LEDs.

But if the only emulator you plan on running is mame - then just map the u360(s) to analog and let the mame digital restriction handle each game - that works fine!
