Lucite wearing down allready.
« on: August 07, 2003, 09:59:32 pm »
Hey everybody.

My cabinet has been playable for 2 weeks and allready the lucite is showing wear.  It is not horrible, but I want to know if it will be a future problem.

The lucite around the joystick washers is getting scuffed.  Is this normal or is some fool holding the joystick at the base and pressing down?  (A lot of my sister's male friends have been using the thing....I made it too easy to operate.  :-\)

Do I need to put some felt underneath the washer's?  Is this wear normal? Will it get worse?

Thanks once again for answering my crazy questions.

I think felt would accelerate the wear. It'll collect dust, dirt, ect and then act like sandpaper.

If it becomes a problem, they do make abrasion resistant formulations of both plexiglas and lexan for high wear applications. McMaster-Carr carries both if you can't find them locally.
