Help! I-Pac is dead!
« on: August 07, 2003, 09:39:40 pm »
Help me!
I just built my controls... And my I-pac was working, but a bit flaky... now it just doesn't respond at all. On closer inspection, the port to the PC is loose! Has anyone dealt with returns to london???? I don't want to have to buy a brand new I-PAC!

OK, I may be stupid, and I may have voided my warranty... (if I had one) But after 10 minutes of freaking out and sweating, I used my EE skills to figure out the problem. Apparently, the ground had come loose, and so the board wasn't responding at all. So, with my trusty soldering iron, I made a quick fix. Hopefully Andy won't call me a moron, and tell me I shouldn't have tried to fix it myself. But, the dork in me had to figure it out. I wouldn't have slept tonight  ;D

the 2 ground connections were broken in a perfect ring. fired up the iron and resoddered them. works fine now. thank god im so lazy and hadnt sent it back yet.

Andy, you should check your Ipac 4's, you seem to have gotten a bad batch.
