Blue coin reject buttons... Where ?
« on: August 07, 2003, 03:29:16 pm »
I'm kinda tired of yellow happ ones and red ones don't match my cab either. I saw them on somebodys cab in the examples section (can't find the example of course) so I know they exist. ???

You can order them from Happ.  Just do a search for reject pushbutton on their site. FYI, i have a set of the blue ones(wasn't mine you saw though) and at least with the stock Happ coindoor lighting, they light VERY poorly.  They appear very dim.  Maybe with some laser LED's or something they would be brighter, but i haven't explored other options yet.  Also, the standard denomonation insert(white lettering on black background) doesn't look as good with the blue buttons IMHO.  I printed new insert with a white background and black lettering which helps readability.  Just some food for thought.

Edit: Here's links to the parts on Happ's site.

They must exist because in the load of coin doors I picked up yesterday there were some misc parts.  Among them was a blue reject button.  Just one, though, sorry.

I bet Lieberman might have them.

Thanks Homebrew ! I think I checked every parts supplier out there EXCEPT Happ. I don't what kept me from checking there first since my coindoor is made by... yeh you guessed it HAPP ! ::)  I guess I just thought that yellow was Happs trademark color not even thinking that they may just offer a variety of colors.(That deserves a double ::) ::)) Thanks for pointing out what was right under my freekin nose. ;D

Yeah no problem.  I too dislike the standard yellow ones happ sends.  I wish they gave you a choice or at least shipped red ones.  Red is the most common in arcades afterall.

Actually, if you call Happs you can get all sorts of options that aren't listed on the website. If you need token mechs in your doors, or the stronger joystick springs, etc. Just call them and talk to the salesperson.

I haven't ordered from them myself, but I remember that other people have gotten things this way.

I wonder if happ charges you differently though when changing options like that.  I know common sense would say it shouldn't cost any differnt to change the reject buttons to blue instead of yellow, but we all know how specialty shops are and happ already is known for its higher prices.  I wouldn't put it past them to charge a couple extra bucks for changing the color of the reject buttons.  Another FYI, at least on my happ over/under door, the buttons are kind of a PITA to change.  It would be alot easier with some kind of specialty tool, but a normal ratchet has trouble getting to some of the bolts.

Changing something out like that takes time.  Not much time, but time is money, as they say.

I'm sure that their doors are pre-assembled, waiting to be boxed, labeled and delivered.  First you have to remove the mechs.  Then unscrew the coin slots.  Then swap out the rejects, followed by reassembly.  It is a very simple process, but one that takes time.  Ask **any mechanic to swap out parts for free, even if it takes a just few minutes, and see their reaction.

** DISCLAIMER of course, if you know a mechanic and you're friendly, friends, of family with him, this may not apply.

Actually, I was rather disappointed in the blue inserts myself, though for a different reason than anyone else has posted. My cab is a refurbished Mortal Kombat, with its original door still intact, and the Happ blue inserts didn't fit the door. Even if they had fit the hole, there was clearly a problem: the original red inserts (which I still use, despite the fact that my cab is painted blue) had a coin slot in them, and these don't.

But if you have a Happ door already, I'll wager they'll do you just fine.
