Mame game specific key mapping?

When you tab to the MAME menu and select "input (this game)  Does it save the mapping for that rom only, and not mess with your "general" key mapping?

Yes, if you map for that game only it will not mess with your general mappings.

also there is a program called CFG Magician
that lets you batch reprogram different button layouts like neo-geo, fighters, ect
I found it indispensable
