Any guide on techniques to do tidy cable work?
« on: August 20, 2010, 01:19:07 pm »
I've seen pictures of some CPs and cabs with really tidy cabling and although I have the patience, I don't know how to even start to do such kind of work. I really don't understand how they measure the correct size, tied them together, etc.

Any guides out there?

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

Use multi conductor cables or use separate wires and learn how to lace the wires manually.  Use nylon cable ties and supports freely.

I just used wire ties.  If you want to make sure it's neat, just make sure you leave excess wire on the component side prior to wiring things up.  make your wire bundles first, cut to length, then wire things up.  Think about how you will route the wire before you install buttons so that you can determine which way to make the switches point.
