Wireless woes
« on: August 05, 2010, 09:11:52 am »
Does anyone know if there is a way to run your audio output to a USB wireless device and the onboard 2.1 speakers connected to the soundcard at the same time?

My jukebox is a windows XP home system with 2.1 computer speakers and a stock sound card, I believe a Realtek. I was using a piece of crap wireless FM modulator to play music outside on the patio. As flakey as that thing was out of the box (it shot craps after 2 months), the input was from the soundcard, which I split and sent it to the onboard speakers as well.

I picked up a  Sony-ALTUS S-AIR Wireless Audio Receiver and Transmitter. It is crystal clear, but now I am without my onboard speakers (it connects via USB). I can get into the Windows control panel/sound & audio devices, and click the Realtek icon and access my onboard speakers via the test. The pc seams to be reading the USB wireless as the primary sound card. Is there a way to configure windows xp to output to both sound cards at the same time?

If not, this puppy is going back and I'll have to come up with a plan C.
You probably remember me from such films as `The Revenge of Abe Lincoln' and `The Wackiest Covered Wagon in the West'

Maybe something like this:

Set your onboard as the primary sound card and have VAC route it to your wireless card?
