I have 2 amps which I'm driving from a single rca audio source. I was getting a hum when the second amp is plugged in.
I have an output from a computer going into a splitter (one RCA in and 2 out) one feeds amp #1 the other feeds amp #2.
I built a ground loop isolator using some 1:1 transformers, but when I plug it in to the signal line, the first amp goes almost silent, and the amp (that is now isolated) is fine.
I feel that the tranformer I used is presenting itself on the line as a dead short (almost) causing 80% of the signal to divert through the tranformer instead of going to the first amp. Driving either amp with the isolator is fine by itself..
I know there is probably a better way to do this, but does anybody know what kind of an ohm load I should have on the input side to maintain a balaced load... Or would building another isolater and placing it on the #1 amp input fix this?
