D9200 yellow tint out of nowhere - crap!! please help!
« on: August 02, 2010, 12:06:53 pm »
Hi folks! My D9200 in my MAME cab all of a sudden developed a nasty yellow tint to it.  ??? I've had this monitor for 2 years with no probs but all of a sudden when I turned it on this morning everything had a yellowish tint. No other disfigurement to the picture at all; everything just looked too yellow!

Most likely my ArcadeVGA or the monitor?

Can someone please advise me on this?

Thanks very much to anyone!!!!

Feed it a black screen (just call up MS Paint or something similar and bucket fill it with black if that's the best you can do).  Do you have black or some other color where there should be black?

I had a K7400 built Jan 2004 that exhibited the same type of problem. Turned out to be the power transistors on the neckboard for the blue component. Throw some color bars up and see if it's not missing.

you can also access colours in the osd menu, sometimes these digital chassis get a static spike which can send colours or other adjustments a little crazy

Actually, that's true.  The D9xxx series is famous for EEPROM corruption.  You may be lucky and just need to re-set some things (possibly in the "factory" menu, which I don't know how to enter off the top of my head, but check the user menu first).  Color bars would be essential for adjusting things back.

Thanks but how do I put up color bars? I have a home theater disc that will surely have the pattern but I don't think my MAME PC has a DVD drive. Is there a way to put up bars with a menu?

Finally what do you mean when you state 'see if its not missing?'

Thanks Mon; I'm not familiar with the factory menu though; how do I access it?

I don't remember off the top of my head.  You don't want to mess around in it unless you have to.  It's intended for factory setting and service technicians only, but if the monitor has "lost its mind", then some of those settings may be wrong.  You'll want to figure out what the problem is and if it is correctable from the user (normal) menu, first.

If you're running mame on the computer hooked to it, many arcade games will produce various test patterns in the service menu.

Hi all things are well; for some reason the color push was completely screwed! A simple access of the menu and I was able to rectify it. This has never happened that's why I assumed the worst lol

Thanks to all for the help!!!  :applaud:
