Where can I find a list of spinner games?
« on: August 05, 2003, 01:16:38 pm »
I think the title is pretty self-explanatory. Where can I find a list of spinner games?

Is that kind of information in catver.ini? Is it already posted online somewhere?

Okie doke. I'll give it a shot later.

Right now I'm too busy playing Tempest.  :)

Not too bad. It does suffer from some incorrect information though. No joy 2-way category being the largest problem. Followed by shifters being classified as however many buttons as they have positions. Followed by gas pedals being buttons.

Well it's probably written up in terms of what most people would use for controlling through MAME and not what the original controls actually were. I think missing a 2-way category is a bit short-sighted, though. But then agan, it would be pretty easy to play 2-way games on a 4-way stick so maybe that's where they threw the 2-way games. I'm not the expert on original controls... (paigeoliver proved he's the man by identifying the Monroe joystick out a lot of 8 in a 2"X3" picture)

They actually threw the 2-way games in with the 8-way titles. They do play properly with 8-ways, but they also play properly with 4-ways, and with the original 2-way sticks as well.

BUT, lets say you set up a 4-way cabinet and use that list to pick your games. You will be missing a bunch of games that would play properly on your panel. Thus the need for the 2-way category.

Also, I didn't double check, but it seems to be missing the 4-way dual position joystick that Wizard of Wor uses.

It has alot of categories missing. It's missing any dual-joystick games. (At least I didn't see any.)

It's not terribly complete, but it does have the list of spinner games I need.

Anyone know how this list was generated?  Or how mame.dk generates thier data?  Is it manually?   Is Mame.dk's database downloadable anywhere?
