Subject pretty much says it all.  Just looking to quickly and easily test multiple ledwiz boards, by simply turning the individual ports on and off.  RandyT's test program is exactly what I want, except it only allows you to test on device #1.  I kinda thought his program would have been updated by now, to allow for multiple devices, but I'm betting it's a pretty low priority, if it's even a thought at all, considering all the other cool stuff he keeps coming up with.

Anyway, are there any other easy test programs out there?  I know LEDBlinky, by reputation, is awesome, but I've only messed with it a couple of times in the past and couldn't figure it out very easily (my problem, I know).  I'm just impatient sometimes and get easily frustrated if I'm in a big hurry and don't pick up on something instantly.  I suppose I just need to take a little time, find some good documentation and actually learn how to use that program properly.

Hi there,

the product page mentions an LED-wiz active-x software that Randy can provide upon request.
I used it to test if all of my 4 LED Wizs are working fine and the software is absolutely easy to use. So I think this would serve your purpose as well. I suggest you shoot Randy an email.

Best

Hey, thanks for that info!  Been to that page many times over the last several years and for some reason, I never noticed there was anything, other than the basic test program and audio program before.  Wonder how long ago the ActiveX control was added?

Oh well, e-mail request sent to RandyT... :)

Randy also has a version of the LEDWiz app which works for device #2.

Ah ha!  That's what I really wanted!  Thanks, Arzoo.

Now that I've got my volcano buttons how I want them and have an easy test program for both Led-wiz boards, I need to figure out what the heck I did ages ago, when I was first messing around with LEDBlinky.  Although I do have rgb's in all my buttons (save the volcanos) and trackball, for some reason, everything will only light red at the moment.  If I test both led-wiz boards, basically only every third port will light (red in this case), as the other two thirds will not light at all.

I'm guessing it's something I did while initially experimenting with LEDBlinky, but it was so long ago and so much has happened since then, that I really can't remember what I did, as I still don't understand the program very well.  Once again, the obvious thing is that I'm going to take some time to sit down and read the LEDBlinky manual from cover to cover, but in the meantime, is there something simple I might check for?  I'm guessing I changed to a pre-set, red color scheme or something and it has basically stayed that way ever since, but I'm not sure which *.exe to run within the LEDBlinky suite, to check for that type of thing.   Any thoughts? (which I'm sure will be of the "make sure the power cord is plugged in" variety to most folks)   ;)

Do Randy's test apps light up the RGBs correctly (all colors)? If not, you've got a wiring issue. If the RGBs are fine with the test app then the only way blinky could just light red would be the device/ports/inputs not configured correctly.

Start with GenLEDBlinkyInputMap.exe and make sure all your device ports are configured correctly. The Install and Config pdf has a "How Do I Get This Thing To Work" section which should get you up and running.

Damn...I was afraid you were going to say that.  No, Randy's test apps only light the red led's, but I could have sworn I have this thing wired correctly.  Famous last words, I know, but I was really thinking (hoping) it was a software issue, as both of my led-wiz boards are exhibiting the exact same (red only) behavior.  I guess Randy's test apps would override any sort of saved, limited lighting scheme, that I might have managed to achieve, so long ago.  Oh and for reference, should it make any difference, I'm using Windows XP and, at the time, was using GameEx as my frontend.

So, anyone have an idea how improper wiring could have this sort of impact?  I guess it goes without saying that I need to re-review Randy's led-wiz setup information and doublecheck everything.

Now, I will say this...all three colors were working properly for all buttons, etc., before I started messing with LEDBlinky (version 3.72, I believe).  And, I don't recall messing with the wiring much after that point, except for getting the volcano buttons up and running.  But it was already doing the "red-only" thing long before that.

So, other than doublechecking the wiring, I'll go ahead and start with the GenLEDBlinkyInputMap.exe file and see if that gets me anywhere.  Oh and btw, does the "How Do I Get This Thing to Work" .pdf exist for the 3.72 version?  If not, I was already planning on buying the new version anyway, but if it exists for this older version, then I can at least start reading.
