Sanwa OBSN-24 Pushbutton (Threaded) in Black?
« on: June 20, 2010, 11:31:16 am »
Anybody know if I can get the Sanwa OBSN-24 Pushbuttons (the threaded ones) in black?  I've searched and so far I can only find Blue, Green, Orange, Red and Yellow.  Seems odd they have no black or white?  The snap ins come in black.

Right now I'm using the Seimitsu 24mm buttons and after comparing with the Sanwa, I want to change them.  I put a Sanwa switch into one of my Seimitsu buttons and that helps, but I'd rather swap the whole button.  I could switch colors if I have to, but most of the Sanwa colors are too light for my taste.  Red is the only one that I think would look OK on my CP.

Another thought: are the Sanwa plungers the same between the snap ins and the threaded buttons?  Black plunger with a red rim might look good - but that's a lot of buttons to buy to mix and match.  :-\

Here's my CP for reference.

The snap ins come in black.

OBSF-24 as well as OBSF-30 in black color were released in 2009 after some decent "pressure" by non-Asian retailers ;-) But since the OBSN-Buttons dont sell very well, I cannot imagine that occurrence will happen again (soon).

Lizard lick has Seimitsu PS-14-DN 24mm Pushbuttons in black and white
You probably know that already, but I thought I'd through it out there just in case you didn't
They are very sightly different in that the lip around the plunder is sightly narrower on the Seimitsu ones
so they wouldn't be an exact match, but if you used them for the admin buttons and the Sanwas you already have for the action buttons I don't think you would really notice a difference

Hmmm, I can find OBSF-30s in black currently, maybe I should stock up for when I get my full cab built.  Or just plan on a metal CP.

The Seimitsu PS-14-DN 24mm's are what is in there now, but the only Sanwas I have are a few snap ins and I don't think they'll work with a 1/4" plywood plus 3/16 plexi CP.  Swapping the switch between the bodies is only a partial solution since the Sanwa plunger / body still feels smoother to me.  Still wonder if the Sanwa plungers are interchangeable between the Sanwa snap in body and the Sanwa threaded body.

And to think that when I started this hobby, not that long ago, I thought my Xarcade was just fine.   ;D  Now, I wonder how I can tweek to make things just a little better.
