Tron Help...
« on: June 12, 2010, 10:04:42 am »
Well here it going on 6 months and I still cant find a decent Tron arcade.

I have had my CP for awhile now, and One thing I can not figure out is, the flight stick control for Tron.

Everythings perfect, EXCEPT racing the speedbikes and tanks.  Its a 8 way flight stick, with 4 micro switches.  When I am in the killing the spiders, or taking out the force field, its cool, but trying to run through the Bike or the tanks, I am having issues with always going in a criss cross pattern, or not turning up and going right, ect.  I know Its suppose to work like a 4 way.

How can i configure everything for Tron?  But still keep everything else running fine?

Tron has a Special restrictor in place inside the joystick that is shaped like a 4-way restrictor but allows for 8-way movement at the very extreme corners

Encryptor makes and sells fantastic reproductions of the restrictor, and I did a tutorial on how to convert a Happ flightstick to tron Stick (see my signature)
so you can see what I'm talking about

Was this a real Tron CP you got? if so someone must have changed the restrictor somewhere along the way to a standard 8-way
EDIT: nevermind I read that it has 4 microswithes so it's not an original.... is it a happ?
I'm sure you've seen the awesome reproduction handles That Groovy Game gear makes

good luck, let me know if you have any other questions. Once you have a new restrictor you'll have a ton of fun playing without the jaggies!!!!!!

+1 ... if you have microswitches then you DEFINITELY don't have a Tron stick (which used leafs) and, as others have noted, a specialized restrictor.

Encryptor's BST thread:

Encryptor's restrictor is the bomb, no doubt. You need one of these!
