A little dilemma, any ideas here?
« on: June 11, 2010, 11:54:41 am »
My computer on my MAME crapped out on me. It's dead.

Anyway, my friend recently bought a pre-made machine and decided to swap out the computer for something better. He gave me his old computer, which works well, but it doesn't jive with my TV setup. The computer he gave me doesn't have an AGP slot on the motherboard, so I can't use the video card I had with the DVI to component converter.

So I guess I have three options.

1. Find a PCI card that has DVI out as well.
2. Try a VGA to component converter.
3. Bite the bullet, save up, and get a 27" VGA monitor.

I'm more interested in #2, but I don't know how well those work with a standard TV. Aren't they mainly used for connecting to projectors that are at a little higher resolution? If they do work, are there any big hurdles to jump to get them working well?

I have a party tomorrow, so if I can figure this out today I'll be a happy camper.

Thanks.
