OT- speaking of StarCastle, it's in the lunch break room the Ghostbusters headquarters (in the movie).    it's between 2 other machines, one's some kind of pinball (elvira?) and i couldn't tell what the other one was.  You can see it in the scene right when they get their first call.

Sorry no idea about the sideart.

Lots of cinematronic games were used in movies.  Thier frame rate is very close to 24 FPS, which is what movie FPS are (roughly).  Therefore, there would be no screen flicker (ever see a computer monitor on TV?)

Back on topic - I just got the PCB to work!  The game runs flawlessley, but the cab is need of repair, and sideart on one side.  I am thinking of making some of my own and having EMDKAY print it up for me.  He did a great job on my last CP.  The problem is accurately rendering the sideart I have, then flipping the words "Star Castle" so they aren't backwards and reversed.  It will be an undertaking, for sure.

I had to sacrifice the good side of art on my Pac-Land to get a feed-scan done to have repros printed.. if you want to redo both sides to be an exact match, though, I can testify that it seems to be coming out well *shrug*.. no full-size test printing yet, though, as I'm still editing right now..

EDIT: Another item worth noting I forgot to mention.. feed scans are expensive and removing the good sideart is a major PitA (2nd only to editing it for reprinting :P)..

So have you considered just putting it against a wall or in a strategically positioned corner? :D

Yes, I know how hard it is to get a scan, and yes i have been told to sqeeze it against a wall.

My plan is this:  I am going to take my digital camera and tripod out of hiding.  Next I am going to run 2 tape lines on the floor that runs parallel with the side of the game (one for the front leg of the tripod, one for the back 2 legs).  I am going to take several close up digital pics, using the tape line and the front leg on my tripod as a point of reference.  This way I do not take the pics from different angles or distances.  I will take 3 - 4 pics per height increment.   When I am finished I should have 9-12 close-up, hi-res digital pics from the same camera angle and distance.

The next step is to merge the photos using layers to ensure they are in the precise location.  The final product should be a hi-res rendition of my current side art.

Since the side art is shaped like an "L" to fit the cab, I will have to edit the words "Star Castle" for the other side.  Otherwise it will be inverted and backwards one one side.  This shouldn't be too difficult - just copy, paste, and touch up from the original collage.

Finally, I will have EMDKAY print it up.

Simple right?

Sounds like a plan JT, the only problem will be having each piece match up exactly.  I'm not talking size - it's easy to resize a part to match the others - the issues will probably be with inconsistent lighting/color balance on each photo, so you'll see lines where they join.  It will most likely need some levels tweaking after you get it together.  Would it be tough to vectorize it?

Yes, the lighting and shading will be an issue hopefully resolved by a few things -

1. No flash will be used, but the room will be bright.
2. Use of layer opacity, and color tweaking and blending.
3. Luck.
4. Lots of hours.

Maybe when it's done I'll have the only repro star castle side art out there.  Then again, I could be whistling Dixie at this point.

I haven't thought about vectorizing it, maybe that's a possibility.

If you want to send me a pic I could vectorize it for you ;D
Just thought I could help out. ;D
