hi, the prob i have if anyone can help is, i have got the ultimarc vga3000 graphics card and jpac (plus all needed leads)
installed into a HP workstation wx4200 - i have had to install the vga drive via booting the pc in safe mode,
the install comes up all complete, but there is still a pci hardware error showing in the system hardware list!
Do i just leave it or what do i do...???

Plus once i restart the PC to boot as normal it starts to boot up and then just goes to a black screen and stops!

PC Spec:
HP Workstation XW4200
XP Pro SP2
Intel P4

Any ideas, pointers, directions just any help would be great im just so so really stuck now  :banghead:

thanks all!

Really need a bit more information.

Assume you are going to arcade monitor?

Are you using VGA port?

What if you connect computer monitor to dvi port?

Have you removed ALL previous windows drivers for the card?

The more info the better.

the card has a dvi pc monitor plugged into it and the vga output on the card is connected to an WG7000 Arcade monitor.

i installed the card via safe mode and forced the driver to install as directed on the ultimarc site.
Also used the remove exsiting ati drivers app from the ultimarc site also.

But i have still no joy!  :banghead:

Have you disabled integrated graphics in the bios?

If that doesn't help:

If you start with card installed do you get anything?  Can you get in the BIOS?  Safe Mode?  I know you said that you installed using safe mode, but wasn't sure if this was with your monitor connected via the card or by using integrated vga.

hi yes i can get to the bios everything but i dunno what im really doing if i go into the bios :S

can also get into safe mode - i install the driver with just a PC monitor connected via the DVI port nothing else connected to the graphics card.

i had a pc guy look at the HP and he has now installed the drivers again with a fresh install of xp pro, but still when you power on the pc it will boot to first start up screen (whereyou can press F8 etc..) then it just goes to a black screen and you can hear that the hard drive is doing nothing also - but you can boot up into safe mode.

its all make me pull my hair out very fast!!! argh!! Any other things i could do would be great!!

I can't say I've tried to install the arcadevga card in a hp workstation,
but I can say that hp is very problematic when installing new hardware (not approved/tested by hp).
That goes for RAM, VGA, audio, etc...
I used to work with an hp workstation and I had several problems when trying to install a new audio card (tried 3 different brands) and ram modules.
The system crashed all the time not to mention the blue screen error.

You should start by confirming if vga3000 (ATI I believe?) is indeed tested and approved by hp for your XW4200 workstation.

You need to make sure any existing ati drivers are deleted before installing the AVGA drivers. There is a link to a utility to do this on the Ultimarc site.  You will need to run it in Safe Mode to do this.

thanks everyone, yes i see the link to remove all the ati drivers and have done that, then re booted up into safe mode installed the vga3000 driver from the cd provided and i still get the same results :(

computer will only boot into safe mode and if you try to boot to normal windows it will just load to the xp splash screen then go blank and the
you can hear the hard drive stops doing anything.

As wweumina suggested,

I would try to access the bios and see if you can disable the on-board vga or find some other option that may be related to VGA performance.

Another idea is to ask for support directly to HP, mentioning the trouble
you are having when installing an ATI RADEON RV630 PCIe card.
