joystick has too much play

hey all,

I just bought a Ms. Pacman joystick from Tornado Terry and although it feels great, there is too much play.  I had the same problem with a Wico Leaf it replaced.  Is the hole in the control panel too large or something?  It is a Slik Stik panel.

Keep in mind I have a wood control panel, so I can't use an official Pacman joystick.

WHat do you all use for 4-way joys with an authentic arcade feel?

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

I have the same problem with my Tornado Terry's Ms Pac stick. There's a huge dead zone before the switches engage. I asked him for help, but he had no answers.

i dont own one of those sticks, but if it works the same way as a sanwa jlf or happ competition you should be able to wrap some electrical tape or plastic around the actuator that engages the switches, making it thicker and reducing the dead zone

I had the same problem with a Wico Leaf it replaced.

Every leaf switch needs adjustment from time to time. Hence many people prefer microswitch operated controls.

Well the Tornado Terry's Ms Pac stick IS microswitch based.
