Calling all BARTOP Owners ...
« on: June 03, 2010, 06:31:28 pm »
Ok Guys,

I'm considering building a Bartop in addition to my main cab. However, I'm not even sure how much I'll be playing my main cab. So, what has everyone's experience been with these. Do they get used ... when, where?

Where do you keep them on a daily basis (Photos)?

Thanks!

Mine is actually in the garage right now, but has been in the computer room at times and still gets played quite a bit. I have games in a few different rooms while I'm getting my gameroom set up, eventually they'll all be together.

The reason for mine getting played a lot is because I built it to play two games I love that my regular MAME cabs can't do right... Defender and Stargate. I don't even like the Multi-Williams type setups because the button spacing is all wrong. My bartop gives me a proper layout for those two games, has a Stargate vibe, but can also play other games. I kept the other stuff limited to 1 or 2 button games, since the Stargate layout is odd for more than that.

The other thing is that once the gameroom is done and I have the space, I will probably build a base for this to make it standard height. That will kind of morph it into a cabaret. This machine is big for a bartop, I kept the traditional fat cab profile and it weighs about 70 pounds.

heh great minds think alike TOK. My BIGTOP bartop is huge as the name suggests. And I also am building a base cabinet, which will house my panels and subwoofer, coin door, etc etc. I am almost completed with the base at this stage, just need to mount the door put in the coin door and hook everything up. In fact the bartop hasnt had much use in the past four months, but thats becuase ive been busy. Once its settin on the base, ill be blastin away here in no time.
