Trouble with diagonals on X-Gaming joystick
« on: May 31, 2010, 06:44:05 am »
I have my cab set up and everything is working great, only problem is the player one joystick seems to have difficulty in hitting some of the diagonal directions. Anyone know why this might be and any possible solutions?

The x arcade joys can be set in 4 way or 8 way mode.  You might have the player one joy in 4 way mode thus no diagonals.
When you put the actuator part on the bottom of the joy the fat side hitting switches gives 8way or turned over the thin side hitting switches gives 4 way;

you might need to tweak the metal blade on the switches (if they are used, i dunno)

I just got a Tankstick a week or two ago.  I had the same problem with the right stick.  I opened it up, and the four levers that are attached to the microswitches each had a slight bend.  I called tech support, and Emailed them a pic, and they got replacements sent out right away.   They really do support their products as advertised.   Replacing it fixed the problem.  I will admit though, it was kinda nice while it was like that, as I would play 8way games on the left and 4way games like Pac-Man, Donkey Kong and Mr. Do on the right.  Kinda sucked for Robotron though.  :)

Because the X-gaming joysticks aren't very good.  I had some with the exact same problem, threw them in the trash, and replaced them with Happs, no more issues.
