Joystick Buttons
« on: May 29, 2010, 08:28:56 am »
Alright so when ever I'm playing MAME and pressing about 3 or 4 buttons at the same time (including the Joystick), it gets stuck on a button key in the way it keeps pressing itself even after exiting the program... When i open note pad the stuck key keeps pressing itself non-stop and I'm unable to do anything till i restart the computer, the Joystick and buttons are connected via USB, using USBLinx card,

Any ideas are appreciated.

Is the button sticking down or is the little tiny switch on the microswitch underneath sticking down (much more likely)
A new microswitch is about $2
Hell, a who new button and microswitch is $3.50
My MAME Build:

I'm not sure what OS you are running, but could this possibly be the sticky keys functions in Windows that's causing this?

I don't think sticky keys are causing the problem, i can't press more than 3 keys at the same time without having to restart the computer because the key keeps pressing itself, any more ideas? help :(

Hmmm...I wonder if that 3 key combo is being translated to the Keyboard shortcut of 'Keyboard Properties' and its setting that key.
Like if you have the MS Keyboard natural Driver installed its the Windows Logo button + K maybe another combo?
Since the restart fixes it maybe when this happens its not being "Applied" before a restart.

Thanks for the reply :D

I'm running Windows XP lite which doesn't include sticky keys function, nothing works except for the old Ctrl + Alt + Delete, also it i exaggerated a bit :P, this happens when i press 4 or 5 keys at the same time, and is really hard not to do so when you are playing fighting games or other multilayer games with your friends, the second joystick is mapped to regular keys (like q w e r t) so when player 2 moves the stick and presses a couple of buttons at the same time it will cause the key to stick and keep pressing itself, freezing the game and unable to do anything till i restart the computer.

I tested a regular USB keyboard to see if it would do the same if i pressed a bunch of keys at the same time but nothing happened, both devices are listed as HID Keyboard under my device manager window

feel free to share any ideas on how to fix this :D

Could be a fault in your USBlinx card if it is causing a problem and your KB is not.
