Options & Control Recommendations
« on: May 26, 2010, 08:34:56 am »
Guys,

I'm finally about to start building my games room  :applaud:

I plan on having a 32" TV behind the bar that will display music tracks and info whilst attached to PC/Amp.

I currently use MediaMonkey for organising my MP3 collection (all tracks are ripped (320cbr), tagged and have artwork) so I'm not interested in that functionality within the software.

Whilst I always create a playlist for parties, it would be good for mates to be able to add tracks.

What options do I have with regards to Jukebox software and the best way to control it @ a party without a touchscreen?

I've gone through alot of this section of the forum but it gets quite bewildering with the various software offerings.  Whats the better/most polished software out there in terms of looks and useability (I'm happy to pay for a commercial product).

What, in your opinion is a good method of control (for my mates) when adding tracks (Remote/KB/Custom Controller)?

Apologies for the long post but am clueless and wanted to ask the experts.

Thanks in Advance

http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/Jukebox_Software and look for the keypad/joystick as controls that is in bold (other than mouse and touchscreen).
Decade Old Work: MultiFE, ArcadeMusicBox
Today Works: Various Spectrum Next games from Rusty Pixels and html5 games.

Thanks.

Has anyone experience of creating a controller to use with the software? or would a wireless keyboard be sufficient?  I guess it would be if in party mode?

keypad software is often used with a 12 input system (select songs from 0-9, page and select).

My own (MultiFE/MultiJuke) as well chris (DWJukebox) software example can is designed with arcade controllers (while both can use keypad systems). My own shall use with remote, but not tested. Its depend what you want and what you need. So test out software and use what you like (I dont mind if you use mine or not).

Sk-Jukebox was designed with keypad in mind and is a excellent software too.

So its much more which kind of controller used and how you want it included it choice your software.

Also if you have a trackball, you can still use most touchscreen software, just with mousepointer enabled.
