Some games just won't launch
« on: May 24, 2010, 10:43:39 pm »
So I have a handful of games that just won't play. From what I understand it is likely due to using a version of mame that changed the names etc and certain versions of the rom just won't play in certain versions of mame?

My main concern is that I cannot for the life of me get Killer Instinct 1 or 2 to work and those are two of my fave games. Not getting these games working is driving me crazy. I don't really want to have to update or change the version of mame I use and chance more issues, so is there anything I can do?

Any suggestions of help would be appreciated!

Do you have the.chd files for these games? KI1+2 are hard-drive based games and also require the .chd's to work.

You can confirm the ROM does not match the MAME rev by some switch in the MAME line command (which escapes me at the moment).  I have always been reluctant to upgrade MAME, but never had a problem when I finally did it.
