Do any of the inputs work on it when it is hooked up?

A little off topic, but is there a way to hook it up to your pc?  How is that working for ya?

I mean it comes with some kind of anti slip thing on the bottom.
The steering wheel doesnt move around at all...almost like screwing the thing on my panel.AMEZING !

Since this is a universal wheel and it works with different consoles, could you try a different converter?

I mean like DC to gamecube or DC to xbox?  I don't even know if those exsit.

I have heard problems with using a Playstation 2 wheel to USB converters to connect to the pc.

Are the dreamcast steering wheels not very good? Is that why you don't use them?

I doubt that is the issue.

I expect he is trying to build a universal driving cab for consoles.  I am curious if that particular wheel wheel work on a pc thru a usb to Playstation 2 adapter.  I am looking forward to doing that myself one day.

I think Snaaake has begun the search for the holy grail of the Ultimate driving cab.  Good luck buddy!!!

I think the resolution to this problem will be researching how a DC wheel works.  Perhaps its a problem with digital to analog conversion.

Bah...I am starting to talk out of my arse now.

Ah, the sad thing is that there is no way to make an ultimate driving cab. At least not since about half the good driving games use 360 degree wheels, while they other half use limited movement wheels.
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

Well, if it was the ULTIMATE driving cabinet, then it could play arcade titles, which often use 360 degree wheels.

Also, forgive me, I work 10 hour graveyard shifts by myself, and sometimes they get me in a contrary mood.

Good luck, Snaaake, seriously - I was pondering this racing wheel thing myself.  Someday I'd like to make a cockpit cab, but will probably settle for just PC-only so I only have to get one set of stuff.

If only my semi-expensive dream combo of momo logitech wheel, act-labs shifter, and act-labs pedals worked on DC, xbox, psx, AND PC...darnnit!

Anyway - I bought the clearance Act-labs RS wheel/pedals for 15 bucks.  shipping was twice that but came with the PSX and DC plugs.  Works pretty nice for the upright cab (need to find a good way to mount it tho...) :)

..... :D
you must be a physic.
Actually I thought it about it long time ago but I dont have any room for another cabinet :(.
I think I will just buy another for DC itself.
I mean I got like 15 dreamcast racers all runiing true vga and looks amezing.Gameplay is arcade perfect too ;D ;D.

no nothing like that..I used some before..worked good but I wanted something to work on "EVERY" system.
like gamecube,x-box,dreamcast,etc.

I bought this one: ActLabs RS for Playstation and just got the DC cartridge on the same page.

This was my first racing wheel so I'm no wheel expert, but it works for me pretty nicely.  So far I just rest it on my lap, but once I get some type of system for my cab it'll be a bit more fun I think.  Crazy taxi 2 is fun with it, and daytona was really cool (just like the arcade!).  Man am I glad I got a DC :)

its that "total controls 5" psx to dc converter.

I think for an adapter to work with PSX wheels, it needs a dedicated mode just for wheels, won't work with joystick only adapters. I haven't tried a wheel with mine (don't have a wheel), but the 'Smart Joy 2' has a switch position just for wheels. I bought mine here: http://www.baysoftgames.com/dreamtoplaya.html

There's a problem with that wheel Frostillicus mentioned, it doesn't work with PS2 for some reason. Do PS2 wheels use the USB port or something (like the guns do)? That's the only reason I can think of it not being compatable.

I think www.levelsix.com has PC USB adapters that are compatable with wheels (says so in the listing at least).

well the total controls 5 DO have a switch for steering wheel as well but for some reason my universal wheel isn't working.
BUT HERE IS THE GOOD NEWS !  ;D
Bought another today for $15.
brand new for psx/ps2/N64.

I rate it 8/10.
I played tokyo extreme racer for like 2 hours today :o.
AMMMZING !
its a madcatz brand(madcatz stuff never disapointed me).
Not as good as the universal but for $15  :D.
couldnt be happier.
I should post a pic.

(feel like buying the act labs now...looks so real :P...I can bet it works really well)
*orders one*  ;D

I use a PSX to DC converter and have used those hand-held Act-Labs handheld racing wheels....Ultra-Racer I think they are.

I got a couple of them for the playstation, and they worked fine on the DC via the converter..buttons were a little messed up in some cases but the analog wheel worked great.

Note: VIEWPOINT on the DC is a great racing game that is essentially Unplayable with the DC pad..I couldn't even get past the first few stages with the dc pad, too sensitive, car just careened out of control in endless powerslides.....with the wheel, totally controllable sliding.

Glad you found some satisfaction, Snaaake
