Suggestions for StreetFighter II Turbo Cab
« on: May 19, 2010, 05:13:19 am »
Hi Guys,

I have acquired a StreetFighter II Turbo Jamma Board, its my favourite version of SF2 so really happy. however on arcade-museum i don't recognise any of the SF2 cabs from my child hood. possibly all the ones i played were in other upgrade cabs.

I just wondered what you suggest as a cab to use. artwork doesn't seem to be a problem as its such a popular title. however id like to get the right cab.

Cheers

hey Mordzy :)

Street Fighter II was a conversion kit and was either installed into other game cabs, or into generic Dynamo "cut corner" style cab.

Hi mate, firstly... love the pic im in total envy... my first 2 machines will be KI/KI2  :notworthy:

With the SF2, its probs why i dont remember a fixed cab style. i dont even remember the art work. Ill have to find a cab for sale and post it up, see what you guys thing. Though the marquee and side art can be added etc. just want to make it authentic

I don't think I've even seen SFII side art. I think the "most official" is the SF2 CE in a cut corner cab with the appropriate bezel, marquee, and CP (all gray backgrounds with red, white, and blue buttons).

So i guess with that, any cab would do. as long as it was made to look authentic...

Exactly. I think the CP with the moves on it and appropriate buttons, bezel with correct artwork, and the correct marquee are the entire kit. If you were looking for an appropriate cab though, the cut corner cabs are the most common SF II cabs.

The bottom pic is and even that cab looks like it was converted from the original Street Fighter by the decals on the side. Both cabs are accurate representations of how SFII looked in the arcade however.

The bottom pic is a cut corner. But the bezel and CP should match the marquee. Again I don't think there is any correct sideart.

Here you go, the closest to dedicated that you will find:

that's not dedicated, that's a kit.  the most common kit cabs were the dynamo 'z-back' cabs, but there /were/ sf II CE dedicated cabs for a short while (although you 're talking about turbo, not ce).  The old 'big blue' cabs were dedicated CE cabs at first, I have one myself actually.  Let me see if I can dig up some pics...

here's a few, but not the best...

I believe these were later repurposed for a lot of cps2 games.

these were definitely the most common SFII CE kits, and I think they were also usually used for turbo as well, since if I recall correctly turbo just came as a rom upgrade w/ new marquee.  I have a few friends that have SFII turbo w/ this cab

I didn't know that. I thought the big blues were newer.
I've seen a big blue SF2 CE before, but I figured it was retrofitted to SF2 from Alpha or something.

Well, I know for sure these came out at the time of CE- I actually had one of these at my local arcade.  But whether or not you call them 'dedicated' may be a fine line...they aren't as dedicated as like a MKII machine that has art painted directly on it,haha.  And they were eventually used with other games later.  But whenever 'dedicated' sfII CE cab is discussed, the big blue is usually what they are talking about.  I don't know 100% but what I remember hearing was that the blue one came out first, and when they saw how popular it was they started doing the kits because they were easier/faster.

morzy-
the 2 pics you posted above look like hybrids...the top one is a world warrior with turbo marquee, and the bottom one is a SF I with ce marquee...crazy, haha.

I recommend a "big blue"

These are considered the supreme wooden cabs for Street Fighter.

I am actually selling mine if you are interested (it's the type I linked though, not the ST/Q-sound type linked under mine.  The only thing is the monitor has a few issues.  I'm not that well versed in monitor repair although I know the root of one of the prolems.  If you are interested PM me and i'll link you to a sale thread with more detailed info.
