JPAC Shifted buttons question
« on: May 18, 2010, 03:46:34 pm »
There are default shifted buttons on the JPAC that when you hit P1 start plus some other buttons you get some admin controls like pause, enter, esc etc etc.  Has anyone found a way to wire up a shifted command with a single button?  I tried this by simply running another wire from P1 Start twisting that with the other input, then adding the ground to the other terminal, this did not work and had funky results.

Can you explain what you exactly want to do? Its pretty unusual to run out of inputs on a J-PAC since JAMMA supports 6 per player and the J-PAC supports 8.
Also the J-PAC supports tilt and service buttons and you can use these.

Its pretty unusual to run out of inputs on a J-PAC since JAMMA supports 6 3 per player and the J-PAC supports 8.

Fixed (assuming inputs to mean buttons as opposed to total inputs) although I agree with Andy on everything else.

Tell us what you are trying to do.

ok 1: to simulate the ESC key you have to push P1 Start and P2 Start at the same time.  I want to wire this up to a single button on the Cab for ESC.

2:  to emulate pause I have to hit P1 start and I think Player 1 down or something,  I want Pause to have its own single button

Just conenct the buttons to any spare input on the white screw connectors, and use the WinIPAC utility to assign these as ESC and P.
