Namco Guncon2 Microswitch question
« on: May 14, 2010, 01:01:30 am »
Quick question: I'm planning on modding a used Namco Guncon2 that I purchased off ebay with an Aimtrak. The only thing is, this Guncon2 is used, and I'm worried that the microswitch might need replacement or modding. I'd like to double-check this before I start soldiering and the like.

The gun itself has had better days (the screws look stripped, the S-video plug looks really corroded, etc), but that didn't bother me, since I was going to be dismantling and repainting it anyway.

But now I'm a bit worried, because, with the gun opened, when I pull the trigger, it doesn't look like it's compressing the microswitch for the trigger. At the very least, if it is, it's not pushing it down as far as I can, if I manually push the switch with a screwdriver, and I'm not hearing the 'click' of the switch.

With no PS2, I have no direct way to test this thing and see if it works. I could stick a multimeter on the solder points, but I don't think I can do that while the thing is in the case, and testing it outside the case defeats the purpose.

Anyone with one of these willing to check and see if the switch is only depressed a tiny bit?
