Question - Multiple Mortal Kombats, One Kabinet.
« on: May 10, 2010, 01:05:17 pm »
I have a friend who is looking to get a Jamma switcher, and attempting to pack as many of the Mortal Kombats, as he can fit into a single cabinet.

I am not very familiar with switchers, or with the control panel layouts of the various mortal Kombats.

I was wondering if anyone wouldn't mind giving some advice on this. Any disadvantages, problems, perks etc? and Which cabinet would be best to host them?

Ok my first google searches failed miserably. However I stopped being stupid and remembered klov.com :notworthy: it looks like MK 1, 2, 3, U3, and 4 ALL use the exact same cabinet and control panel. this sounds a lot easier than I thought.

not exactly, the first 2 MK games had 5 buttons per player, MK3 added a 6th RUN button....so don't forget to take that into consideration

Go over to retrowaretv.com.  Ito (the site's co-creator) did just this and made a video of it.  If you send him an email he'll help any way he can.  Ito's a good dude.

One of the members here did it, too.

Awesome thanks. I sent my friend the video. Once I'm finished helping him, I plan to do one myself now.

the only thing that pops out about the wiring of this is the resistors on the kick harnesses (and MK1 having a different harness then the others) and the -5V mod to the jamma switcher.  I was going to get a cheap PC and put it in my MKII machine and run all the MKs since there's like 20 including hacks and rom revisions. be sure to post something in the project section when you get started!

I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.
