Thought of making "dedicated" cabs for non arcade games?
« on: May 09, 2010, 11:31:52 pm »
Weird thoughts were going through my head today, of making "dedicated" cabinets for stuff like:

Bejeweled - (with touch screen)
Scrabble - (LOLZ!)
Geometry Wars

etc

NO MORE!!

There is a "Feeding Frenzy" dedicated cab at the local arcade in town (made by Ultracade!).  Pretty well done actually...even has a fake 'fish tank' on the side with real water in it.

I would rather have something that looked like classic cab but could play these than the other way around.

a jukebox that's also set up to play Audiosurf :)

would work great with a trackball + 2 buttons
OR  3 move + 2 action buttons  [ETA: actually, because of the menus, you'd still need a stick to emulate a mouse in this case.. really should use a trackball. especially on a jukebox!]

Geometry Wars would be awesome. Luckily it's on PC!

I was thinking about making a dedicated Pacman Champion Edition cabinet a while back.
It would have been a Pacman replica cabinet build, but with a widescreen, Wico Leaf Joystick (or tornado terry's joystick)...and new CE artwork.

But unfortunately Pacman:CE wasn't released on PC, and having an Xbox 360 exclusively for one game is a bit too clunky. Especially from the Front End, and Control panel point of view.

If they do release it for PC though, I would probably reconsider building one ...
