Rush The Rock for $300 a good deal?

So there is a local sale on a Rush the Rock complete driving cab (it says its missing PCB, HDD and PS). He is asking $300 for it. Is this a good deal?

Absolutely not!

That game sells complete and working for around $400!

Consider $100 for pcb and hard drive, plus $35 for the correct power supply. Add some for your time, and you'd be stuck with an albatross that cost you more than it's worth!

If it was 200 or 250 id probably get it if it was near by and I didnt have to go through too much trouble to get it.

I guess it depends on what you plan to do with it.  If the monitor is in good shape, you have that, the wheel, shifter, pedals, driving seat, speakers, and the housing itself.  You can spend more than half of the price on just the seat if you are buying new.

I think if you are considering this as a jumping point to make a generic driving cabinet, you have to consider the sum value of the parts, rather than what you can get for it when restored (unless that is what you are planning to do.)

Thanks for the feedback guys. Personally I thin $300 is steep considering the missing PCB and HDD and PS. I would considering restoring it if it had all of the above, but without those I think that I'd likely just MAME it and use what is there to create my own generic driving cab. I think $200 is fair so we'll see what happens with that offer.

I'm biased, I dont like the game, so I wouldnt buy it for more then 200 in working shape. In fact I dont even think I'd buy it then (unless I could put Cruisn' in there)

A cab being a good deal or not depends on where you live too. Where I live, the asking price on a well known driving game, complete and in good shape would probably be $1000+. So $300 would be a good deal for that.

If it's in good shape and you want a MAME driving cab, $200 is definitely fair. Let us know if you get it!

So looks like I'm gonna get it for $125 without the monitor as he wanted it for another project...not bad considering I wanted to retrofit it with an LCD anyway.

So as long as I am able to sort out transportation It should be mine and ready to mame this weekend. In terms of steering for this thing...what do people recommend? Logitec..daytona or crusin wheel? anything else?

I'd like to throw in a nice PC and maybe even a used 360 to play something new and sexy on it..any input is welcome.

It doesn't have the controls?  If it did, you could just wire them up to the PC with an encoder or controller hack.

Well it does have the controls but I'm not a huge fan of them to be honest. They look and feel kind of cheap. I just thought maybe the Logitech G25/G27 may be a better way to go in terms of the look and feel. Has anyone used the G25 or 27 with Mame and older games at all through PC? I am leaning toward more of a 360 or PS3 as I'm bigger in to newer games but wouldn't mind the flexibility to be able to play older stuff like Out Run and such.
