numeric keypad suggestions
« on: April 29, 2010, 10:49:14 pm »
hi all,

wondering if anyone out there has numeric keypads installed on their machines for consoles that use keypads (Intellivision, Coleco, Atari 5200 and Jag, etc.)?  and if so, any chance you could post some pics?  what's the model number of your keypad, etc.?

i'm looking for ideas on how to under mount some keypads (not just velcro'd to the CP) onto my CP.  i'd much rather go the keypad route but if i can't find something that can be easily hacked for under mounting, i may go with 12 VERY small buttons (suggestions on panel mount tiny buttons appreciated).

depending on space, i'm either going to shoot for two pads for both players or one pad centrally located on my CP.

thanks all for reading, tony

You THAT into those consoles you want to add the clutter of a keypad layout to your control panel? Consider first if you could get away with using a combination of normal 6 buttons plus shifted keys or ey combinations for the other numberpad keys.

my CP will do EVERYTHING some day!  i even have a spot sketched in for toaster slots cause i'm tired of friends seeing all of the functionality for the first time and jokingly asking "does it make toast?".  YES, yes it DOES make toast.

but back on topic, my CP is black.  most keypads i see are black.  i think if i flush mount it above player buttons, it'll barely be noticeable unless your right up on the machine.
