Well's Gardner 9100
« on: April 25, 2010, 01:28:35 pm »
Any reason I should not go with the Well's Gardner 9100 arcade monitor for my cocktail arcade? Anyone have any other recommendations? I need it to be 19, at least 640x480 resolution.
Thanks, and once i get the monitor in I will post pictures of my "completed" project.

because a 19 inch computer monitor can be de-cased and installed.... and it's good up to probably 1024x768...also could be had for free.....

I live in a small rural town and crt monitors are hard to come by. And aren't arcade monitors higher quality than most computer monitors?

Short Answer: no

Long answer: yes and no.... the d9100 (available in 15"/17"/18v (fancy talk for 19") inch versions) are discontinued. There is nothing special about them to warrant purchasing specifically.

I come from a small town where you could go to the dump and dig perfectly good monitors out of a separate pile of discarded electronics, take as many home as you wanted.

Bein' all now i'm city folk, we just go down to the government auction and buy a pallet of them for $35.

and yes we specifically buy surplus computer monitors to replace the monitors in cocktail cabs, and they work just fine, and they look great.
