Please help guys, x arcade
« on: April 24, 2010, 08:03:55 pm »
Hey ppl,i just finished building my mame cabinet, sat down  on seat and loaded up zsnes to play with my bro, and tankstick doesnt play properly with 2 players.

I played many games on zsnes and fusion all the same problem,The problem being,I can map out the buttons on all emulators fine but when i go to play a 2 player game  ie Street Fighter, when i push right on player 1 the character moves right but at the same time Player 2 cotrol will jump up in the air or punch, the buttons seem to interact with each other, again for insrance Player 2 pushes kick button and player 1 moves to the left, weird huh.

as i state the button map in all emulators fine and when i play on my own for instance the buttons work fine but when i select 2 players the button go all funny.

Can someone please help me understand what the problem is, Is there a driver i need? am i missing some kind of start up procedure?

Appreciate any help as soon as possible and again thanks

What encoder comes with the Tankstick?  Have you tried using the controls in Mame?  If so, how does it respond?

Try using the keyboard instead of the Tankstick in Zsnes.  If you may P1 to letters and P2 to different letters, does it work properly?

When using the Tankstick, open notepad (windows or whatever editing program you use in Linux/Mac) and see what happens when you press the P1 joystick right.  Does it show the letter that you mapped in Zsnes?

It sounds like the controls that you mapped are sending two signals.  You can either figure out how to fix it OR map the emulator to match your Tankstick configuration.

Just a few things to try that may help you figure it out.  Let us know what you find.  I haven't used a Tankstick, but with more info, I'm sure you'll get the help you need.

hey thanks for quick reply,i still havent got it to work.
i opened up notepad and when i moved the joystick in directions it mapped out exactly what i had in zsnes/fusion.

So i then tried playing as player 1 on joystick and mapped out Player 2 on keyboard,as usual it worked fine, so when i mapped out buttond on player 2 joystick again the same happened yet again----when i mover right on player 1,player 2 kicks/jumps automatically, this is so weird     any other help would be great

Did you accidently switch the input switch on the back? did you possibly press the input button by accident? Is your cable loose?

any of those things will make your stick un responsive.

Double check those things then try this: unplug your x arcade, turn your PC off, plug it back in (the x arcade)  then start it up again.

Good luck!
Seriously. Will it fit in my basement or what?

not yet , as i said i was working a few days ago fine but now problems.
Im getting the No keyboard present error as well now on start up,when plugged into back of stick, but runs as fine through comp,The red light appears on/off so the stick is working.

Last night i could get the stick working on 1 player but mapping 2 player was acting up. ^ as stated.

now today nothing at all, woud there be someting interacting with it.?

Being that it worked in the past, I would try a fresh install of the emulator in a new directory.  I know it may be tempting to copy over the settings from your old directory, but don't do this.  A fresh install is key.

They try setting it up again and see what happens.
