Tac/Scan - cool game!
« on: July 30, 2003, 10:06:05 am »
I was up late last night, just hunting through different games that I.ve never heard of.  I was trying a bunch of "spinner/dial" games and stumbled across Tac/Scan.  I've never heard of this game but I was addicted right away.  It's pretty simple, not much brain power needed - but - the game play is fast and furious.  I think what hooked me right away was the sound.  There is so much loud bass in that game, the explosions through my subwoofer were making my entire arcade machine vibrate violently.  This has to be the most bass filled/machine vibrating game I've found so far.  Defender, my favorite game, is also very bass filled and makes the machine rock, but Tac/Scan is more.

Anyway, you may have already know about this game but if you haven't I suggest you check it out.

:) Rotate or die! :)

Ah the sega gremlin convert-a-games...such excellent gameplay and action in such a horrible horrible package (the pcb cage concept).

Try them all - eliminator, star trek, tac/scan, space fury ....   by far my favorite is Zektor.  That game is simply awesome.   They all sound similar because most of them shared the same sound samples.  I agree - the rich bass really rocks :)

Yeah Tac Scan Rulz : )

Another less known and great vector/spinner game is cosmic chasm.  Give it a go : )

Also, for an earth shaking experience... grab some "Base Shakers".  You can get them at:

 http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&User_ID=14761897&St=5163&St2=55096882&St3=-76287571&DS_ID=3&Product_ID=15383&DID=7

They make a Pro model as well:

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&User_ID=14761897&St=5163&St2=55096882&St3=-76287571&DS_ID=3&Product_ID=123393&DID=7

They are like speakers... but witout the air movment and noise.  They just make vibration... and  a LOT of it!   Simular to a subwoofer effect... but more so - and at very low volume.   To get a simular effect with a sub... youd have to have a lot more power... and would annoy most with such loud decibles.

I had mounted therse uder a pc chair... and the highest setting (on the non-pro versions)  created so much vibration that i could hardly see the screen!  (cause my eyes were all over the place!  heh)

  I highly recomend them.

That make me think of that game L.A. Machineguns where you stand on the deck that has a shaker under it that moves in response to the machine gun fire...  Very fun shooting up robots and having your whole body move, too!  :)
