R3play retro gaming show Blackpool 6-7 Nov '10
« on: April 22, 2010, 10:08:21 pm »
This is probably going to be anounced officially sometime soon, but just to let everyone know this show should be a biggie for UK enthusiasts and wondering if anyone here will be attending or contributing to the show:

A big show like this at the UK spiritual home of arcade gaming is just what the doctor ordered for the Autumn season. I unfortunately missed Insert Coin '09 at the last minute but will definitely be in attendance this year with a Turnarcades stand. We will have several working machines at the show, be offering discounts for orders placed on the day and though many members here are DIYers, will have several kits ready for sale on the day at discounted rates if you feel like making your next project a bit simpler.

It should be a great show with Gail Porter hosting in attendance and I hope to meet some fellow BYOAC members there!

I'll be keeping my eye on this. Thanks.

An excuse to go to Blackpool too!

I was up in Blackpool solely for a go on the arcades just a couple of weeks ago - we also had a game of  "count the wrecked Daytona"  ;)

Coral Island had all the newer stuff, but one of the smaller places had a few retro games in Jamma cabs - a couple of multi game type affairs and a  Raiga Strato Fighter which was good fun in two player.

I'll be there for this one!

ST - I knew you'd be in on this one. I'm itching to have a go on one of your cabinets!

Yeah it's a shame Blackpool changed the way it did, but there's still some gems to be found and they always have the latest big arcade machines. Coral Island is great and the restaurant in there is excellent.

It was only recently I stumbled across this website, which gives details of shows, meets and events for our hobby mainly for the UK but also for our European neighbours too:

I'm hoping someone will take it full-scale and arrange one at the NEC main arena (hint hint) cos it's right on my doorstep!
