MAME categorized game list
« on: April 21, 2010, 04:15:48 am »
What's up guys? I have been looking all over for a MAME game list that has been categorized but can't find one. I did find this, http://www.kutek.net/mame32_config_files.php
But I don't want rom names. Does anyone know where I can get one or does someone have one the might be willing to share?

the list would likely be front end dependent.  try the mala and/or software forums.  there's a guy here who wrote a utility to generate a mala list maker for categories, and then there's romlister which can do that too.

catver.ini or genre.ini are the ones that most people use.  The front end will use these to figure out the rom and then usually display the name of the game based on that.  If you want to have a text list of games based on either of those files, RomLister is probably your best bet.  I don't know if it will generate a full list like you are asking for, but it will get you a list of games in each category/genre anyway.

And there is always MAWS which can be filtered by category.  Of course feeding catver.ini into your front end is likely the best bet anyway.
MAWS is at http://maws.mameworld.info/maws/
