speakers not getting power?

For my jukebox that is nearly finished i ripped apart a set of computer speakers for the amp. When plugged in it powers up, so i chopped the plug off, wired an inline mini 3A fuse and plug it in, nothing - dead. however both my PC and monitor (using 10A) work fine using the same method, what have I missed? i can't see any logical answer for this, i've checked the fuse with a multimeter, however don't feel like sticking the probes in a mains electric circuit whilst its on.

any tips would be great thanks

Check the continuity of you mains power.   It sounds like the speaker amp is not getting power.

how would i do this? set the multimeter to the fuse setting... turn the circuit off.. have one end on the plug and one at the other side of the fuse? I will do this again but i'm pretty sure i did that yesterday.

One other thing i have noticed is sometimes the PC won't power... but you unplug it and replug it maybe hit it and it will power up. the fuse holders are soldered in so i find that a little odd.

Was this a regular power cord (AC) or was this the cord from something like a wall wart (DC) ? If it was a wall wart, then maybe the polarity is backwards. (+ - )
