How would you emulate the new slot machines?
« on: April 16, 2010, 09:22:45 pm »
I was at a local casino today.  Many of the new slot machines are either all video, or a combination of the wheels and LCD screens.  Some of the video only look like they are layers of 3 LCDs, to simulate the depth of the real machines, and to have animations look like they explode out.  Then the new systems with the real wheels also have an LCD overlay for animations.

I'm not asking anyone to do it, but is it practical to emulate something like that in mame?  I guess it would be no different than a multiscreen arcade machine, but I'd think the logic of layering them on a single screen would be interesting.

Can't say that I've seen one like that.
Do you have a title and manufacturer example I might be able to go look for? (we have plenty of casinos around here)

The other style I have seen, like the newer Monopoly and such.
Not a technician . . . . just a DIY'er.

An example all video is IGT model 96499410.  This machine looks like it has two layers. I can't see the side of a machine that looks like it has three, but it's the same manufacturer.

Edit: found a datasheet, reading the forums is slowing down my game play and helping keep money in my pocket ;)

then a hybrid machine is WMS model BB2.

Don't see how I can post a picture from my phone, so I'll add some later.
