720 Joystick options or where to buy one?
« on: April 16, 2010, 04:12:22 pm »
720 is one of games that just isn't the same with out that rotary joystick.  Has anyone ever built one or know of a place to buy one?

I have scene this site http://www.720zone.com/  but it more or less wants you to find one on ebay.com or fix an existing one.

These games are really hard to find and would love to play it emulated with a 720 type of rotary stick but I am sure it just hasn't been enough demand for any of the cool companies out there to replicate it.

I wonder if they could make a spinner top/attachment or something?  That might work?  I don't know I just don't know....

Thanks in advance
B

WOW that is sick Thanks Dash.  200 bucks ummm must be lots of custom parts for that thing I can only imagine.

I wonder what the last part is and how long?

I wonder if these will sell out fast.

I was just watching this video

Hey guys,

The 720 project has been running along quite smoothly, lately.  In fact, I'm only one part away from having it finished up - the upper housing.  It's a bit of a bear getting this part just right, but I'm almost there.  Once I have this part perfected and run off a production batch, I'll have completed 720 controllers ready to go very quickly.

In fact, the last part I completed (a redo of the chains) was completed recently and I've been putting them through some wear testing to see how they'll hold up over time.  I was concerned about the fact that I had to break the chain and then reattach the chain without a master link just like the OEM endless loop chain.  I suppose my concern was unfounded since the chain is holding up like a real champ!  LOL

So, it's all good.  I don't need anymore sample parts to work from, but thanks for the offer. :-)

BTW, I'm also nearing completion on the following items:

- Tempest spinner  (waiting on the knob and encoder boards)
- Missile Command trackball  (waiting on the encoder boards and bearing supports)
- Lunar Lander thruster (waiting on a REDO of the plastic covers)
- Major Havoc control panel (waiting on production run of main plates, forming, welding and powdercoating - sounds like a lot, but it's not)
- Major Havoc marquee (on tempered GLASS) - waiting on completion of screening
- I, Robot control panel (just approved final prototype - running them off NOW).

If you have not noticed yet, I partnered up with Dptwiz (Brett) and we're getting Major Havoc dedicated and Star Wars cockpit cabinets made right NOW - both in bare wood.  They're both available for order with fairly quick completion times.  Want to see more?  Go check it out on KLOV.  As I complete more of the metal and plastic parts, I will be able to offer both cabinets as nearly complete.

Here are the links on KLOV:

Major Havoc dedicated:  http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=129164

There's some really exciting developments this year with RAM Controls projects.

Enjoy!!!

Dave

This certainly has my attention. Somebody with enough balls and dough to get CRTs made?

I didn't think anyone here on BYOAC would care about the Amplifone or WG 6100 monitor repros.  LOL

If you sprinkle enough money on something, you can get anything made. :-)
