Design/layout ideas
« on: April 15, 2010, 04:07:53 pm »
I am going to be building a new house within the next few months and am in the process of designing my floorplan as we speak.  I will want to incorporate a wall mounted touchscreen jukebox in/on the wall as I currently have in my house now.  Since I am building this thing from scratch I will have all the speaker wires run to the area the computer will reside.  My current setup relies on a 2.4 GHZ transmitter to channel the signal to a receiver plugged into my stereo receiver.  In addition, my surround sound speakers in my basement used for TV viewing are also the same speakers used for the jukebox.

Question -

If could start from scratch with the freedom to incorporate all your ideas what would they be?

What would you do differently the second (or third/fourth) time through?

Could be anything from computer specs to component hardware to speakers/speaker wire or cool lighting effects......whatever....

I would be interested in getting some ideas.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I would make those ethernet cables Cat6 minimum and run a few multicore cables for future use and put in some heavy duty speaker cables in area's you think you may have a need for and run them all back to your basement area or where ever you think your main controls will be installed.

Lots of choices for multi core cables.   You have to sort of know what types you may use.

When I wired up my place I installed Cat5e even for phone line. I knew in the end if I ever needed I would have spare wire within the Cat5e.

Hello,
I'm not sure how your connecting your touch monitor to the PC (VGA?), but the distance should be no longer than 15ft.
Definetly get away from using that 2.4ghz transmitter. I also have a 2.4 ghz telephone & a Linksys 2.4 ghz router. Lots of problems :badmood:

Thanks!

Not sure if this is something you need for sound, but I use it and it works perfect for my juke (no hum).
